Balloon Twister Career

So you are interested in becoming a full time balloon twister? That's fantastic. I'm sure by now you have developed a great interest in balloon twisting and have dreamed of doing the thing you love most for a living. There is nothing more pleasing that working in a career that you love, especially one where you can bring joy and laughter to others, especially small children. I am going to explain to you what it takes to launching your balloon twister career and will explain to you the different ways that you can go about doing so.

The first thing you have realize is whether or not you are serious about becoming a full time balloon twister or if you are really only into it as a hobby. Many balloon twisters began their career as balloon twisting hobbyists. It wasn't until they had invested a few years of their life practicing the art that they decided to take it one step further. And this is the first thing you have to realize.

A balloon twister career is hard work. However, if it is something you love to do, it won't even feel like work to you. I just feel it is important to point out that you will have to deal with the public criticism including children who may cry due to their fear of balloons. If you are not good at dealing with the public or putting up with criticism and smart mouthed customers, then this is not the career for you. However if you are a expert in customer relations and get along great with others, especially children, then you are already half way to a balloon twister career.

There are many forms of balloon twisting careers. Take me for example. I do private children parties every weekend. My gig involves a magic show plus a comical skit involving some of the balloon animals that I usually twist up on the spot. The act of creating the balloon animals is entertainment in itself. I get the children involved by asking them what their favorite animals are and based on their answers, I create them. Sometimes I will host a game and the winner gets to keep a special balloon animal of their choice. After the comical skit, I always give away the balloon animal characters to the children.

During the week or even some weekends when I do not have private parties, I set up a booth in the busy streets of New York city. I start early, inflating as many balloon animals as I can. Everyday I challenge myself to being creative and I push myself to try new balloon twisting designs. As the parents and children pass by my booth, I get their attention quickly by enticing the kids with a balloon poodle or some other cute balloon animal. Once at my booth, I ask the child what his favorite color is and what his favorite animal is and I go ahead and make him a balloon animal. The parent already knows that there will be a charge if the child wants to keep the balloon model so they are always ready to pay and usually end up buying more than one. If they refuse to purchase one, I will either give it to them for free if I really like the child, or just keep it for my booth to attract other customers.

I also sell other items in my booth such as colorful glow sticks, flashing light jewelry and other eyecandy items that people and children may want to purchase.

I also have set up a popcorn machine, cotton candy machine and soft drink cooler at my booth to make some extra cash. I usually make a great amount of money at the end of my day and I go home satisfied knowing that not only did I earn a living but I made children happy at the same time.

I hope this article helps you come up with your own ideas on how to start your own balloon twisting career. Remember there are no limits to the creativity you can develop as a balloon twister except for the limits you place on yourself. So before you go to bed tonight, take 30 minutes and write down as many ideas as you can that will help you start your own balloon twisting booth and if you feel strong enough about them, make it happen! Us balloon twisters always welcome new balloon artists into our family. Good Luck!
